If you're ever driving thru the Central Valley, tired of the typical off-freeway offerings, make a stop at Donut Kings. Not, ironically for the donuts (although I'm sure they're perfectly delicious), but rather for their absolutely phenomenal Vietnamese-style sandwiches. In delicate pillows of freshly baked bread, they stack your choice of meat with fresh, crunchy lightly pickled veggies (carrots, cucumber, cilantro) with a generous dollop of mayo (? Or mayo-like spread?). Sandwiches are a wonderful combo of warm, perfectly seasoned and tender meat of your choice (BBQ pork, chicken or tofu), with the cool, and crunchy Vietnamese "slaw". SO DAMN GOOD. Oh and to top it all, very sweet and accommodating staff. We didn't get a donut at Donut Kings - maybe next time - but this place in Merced is definitely the king of sandwiches in the valley!
If you go to donuts king please get a mango milk tea they are delicious and great size you won't regret their boba you won't get this anywhere else . They do need some upgrading inside it's a bit ghetto but the tea is very well worth it customer service is great but they could use a smile :) it is a bit priced I do get a grande size cup for the price of a venti that's for sure but can't get enough
A nice little old school mom n pop joint with the old vinyl booths and original everything, just about. This is the kind of doughnut shop I love. They have "Asian coffee" on the menu, which I will assume is Vietnamese but I didn't order it because I was already fully caffeinated myself. Great place to stop while shopping around here.

Yes the the donuts are really good and the owners are very nice. I haven't went here in a while because they close early and sometimes I like to get my donuts later at night. Wish they were open 24 hours but absolutely great donuts
Owner is the nicest local Merced could ever offer. Donuts are good fresh and to top it off they have decent Vietnamese sandwiches too!

I love Donut King. It is definitely one of Merceds hidden treasures. I have been a fan of their sandwiches since I moved here in 2020. The employees are super nice and always happy to help and serve you. The sandwiches are always freshly made and have a unique taste. The location is in a nice spot sometimes overlooked but definitely worth a try. I have updated their menu photos hopefully its a better view for you yelpers.
Banh Mi never disappoints from here! I always ask for extra veggies because I love the savory crunch it adds to the sandwich. Don't forget to ask for your favorite boba drink, I love the coconut flavored one. Tip: Call in your order, as they can be a little slow if you order in person because it's usually 2 ppl working. If your on lunch, you need to get it & go!
Yum! Haven't been to Merced in a while, so when I'm in town, I like to stop by Donut King's for a sweet treat. Delicious and fresh donuts. Friendly folks behind the counter. My fav? A maple bar or a jelly donut...but they're ALL good!
